Winter painting

This is from a picture I took from Mackworth Island which is across the ocean from where I work. I was surprised to see how many people were hiking that day. It was sunny, so it must have not been that cold, I guess. I think the technique is good, I am not sure if it appeals to anybody, but I could just hope.

This painting has a rustic charm that warms the heart and makes me nostalgic for my childhood.
I love the contrast between the trees, one bare and stark, the other holding a promise ..a glimmer of life to be seen in the spring.
The sun and shadows are well done and the grass showing in some areas breaks up the whiteness of the snow and makes it all the more interesting, pleasing to the eye.

Thank you for posting this for us to enjoy. :)

Rabee,

I'm so glad you shared your blog with me today - I love your paintings - the Mackworth one is my favorite - my husband, my dog and I probably hiked right by as you were painting.
