New Painting

I have always wanted to do low tide..It is a very hard subject to do..Some parts of the water reflect the sky, some reflect the trees, and some are just wet mud..I did this on site..The sun was too bright and blinding, so I am not sure I got the final purpose that I wanted, but it still looks good, and I enjoyed being outside...

Cruise Around Eastport

I was invited yesterday to a cruise around Eastport. I went earlier, and did a watercolor painting on the shore with my fellow gallery member, Lisa. She did a nice oil painting, and I was struggling against time and change in light and tide. I was sitting on the pebbles trying to capture the clouds and the sunlight. It was very tideous. The sun kept on hiding between the clouds, and then the tide came in and I had to change my spot. It was also very cold, that I had to put on a sweater I brought. I wasn't completely satisfied with what I did, but to be out and away from the daily rush, was worth it.

Then I went on the boat. It was very nice. I met some new people. And although it was freezing cold, I enjoyed the calm sunset, the company of pleasant people, and the dark blue water. I also saw for the first time a whale jumping, and porpoises (whuch I guess are from the dolphin family), follow our boat. I am posting some of the pictures. It was fun, and I really thank Nima for inviting me over.

First day of class

Today was my first day teaching the free class at adult Ed. It was enjoyable, but the participants found it a little bit difficult. I hope the next class will be easier. After all, I just want them to have fun and enjoy it. This is what we did.

Mother and Child

This is one of my fewer attempts in abstraction. I like the colors.

Only the Good Die Young..or from CANCER!!

One of the oncologists (Cancer doctors) in Cincinnati used to tell me that he used to kick his dog every morning before going to work!! When I asked him why, he answered," If you are a good person, you're going to get cancer!! Have you ever seen a mean person with cancer?"

Today, I saw this very nice old lady at the office. She is nice, cute, very well mannered, and so pleasant! She had just retired a year ago, but shortly afterwards she was diagnosed with lymphoma. I am optimistic about her recovery, but we just found a new lesion in her brain!! After I saw her today, I came back to my desk, and started crying, well, I wasn't screaming or anything, I just felt bad and I couldn't hold my tears!! I hope she's going to make it. If only people knew how hard it is for me to sit in their room and try to be strong and hopeful for them!!??!! Day after day, it gets harder and harder! To keep a smile on your face, and try to tell patients that they are going to be OK, when you know that they won't!! I don't lie or hide facts from them..I actually tell them everything! Bad news, good news, side effects, labs...etc! But, I have to give them hope and say things are going to be OK!

A lebanese saying goes like this,"How hard it is to live if we did not have hope!"

By the way, the previous post has pictures of my family, and my office co-workers!!
